Our ward had a camping trip at Cape Lookout Friday night and Saturday.
It was a total party! We set up our hotel-sized tent (thank-you mom and dad for letting us borrow it!) had sandwiches for dinner (everyone thought we were so lame... and kept walking by asking if we needed some real food. ha!)
and then had a bonfire on the beach with LOTS of s'mores. Look at that awesome ward!! :)
Kylie wanted nothing to do with the fire and only wanted to play in the ocean (at 10:30pm.) We even tried bribing her with chocolate and marshmallows, which didn't work. I eventually just forced her out of the water.
Oh hey Ronald! Fancy meeting you here! |
We did have a terrifying experience that made me regret leaving the water. Kylie was sitting in a chair eating her marshmallows, and then she decided she wanted to get out of the chair, the chair folded up and fell toward the fire with her in it. Thank heavens she landed a few feet away from the fire. So grateful for angels watching over her!
The rest of the night was great! Kylie went to bed like an angel, and slept all night. Dallin and I went to the neighboring campsite and chatted with friends for a while. Dallin and I failed to bring the plug for the air mattress, so we slept on the ground... and didn't sleep nearly as well as Kylie. ha!
We woke up with the sun at 6:40am and hung out in the tent until the ward breakfast started around 7:30. It was a FEAST. Pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, oatmeal, pineapple, watermelon, bananas, blueberries, whipped topping... pretty much everything you could ever want. It was amazing. And neither Dallin or I felt like eating for the rest of the day. Kylie decided to play in the dirt after breakfast....
We finished the day by playing at the beach, building sand castles, packing-up camp, going to lunch with Jana and Ben, and then heading home.
Oh baby! |
The big kids found a spider crab... Kylie wouldn't stop watching it. |
A little soccer playing... |
It was an amazing weekend, and I think we might actually go camping again! :)
